Dry Needling

Dry Needling

Dry Needling is a specialised technique which clinical research has proven to be an effective form of treatment for a variety of ailments. Dry needle involves the insertion of a sterile single use acupuncture needle into a specific myofascial trigger point (pressure point or “knot”) in a muscle. The needle is gently inserted into the skin directly at this point and often a local twitch response occurs. This helps bring blood flow to the area and promotes healing and relaxation within the muscle.

Although the needles used are the same as those used in acupuncture the principles of treatment with dry needling are much different.

At Every Body Physiotherapy we have gone through specific post graduate training to ensure competency and safety with dry needling and it is a recognised treatment within the scope of physiotherapy.
